Yep it is already that time of year again……

Red Bull Cliff Diving will take place at a remote location on the water at Possum Kingdom Lake called Hells Gate. The only viewing is via kayak, stand up paddleboard, personal watercraft, or boat. There is NO on-land viewing available for the event. Hell’s Gate Cove is surrounded by private property and there is a zero trespass policy.

Red Bull Cliff Diving is free to the public. Due to there being a limited capacity on the lake as well as in Hell’s Gate Cove, the Brazos River Authority reserves the right to close access to boat ramps and Hell’s Gate Cove at any time to ensure the safety of all guests. (So it will be best as with all BIG holiday weekends to

We read and hear a lot in the news these days about a pending water sale agreement between the Brazos River Authority and the City of Abilene.  It dominates conversations all over the lake.  We hear conflicting stories about how much water is involved, and any amount seems like a lot to us at PK right now when our lake is low and we’re experiencing an historic drought.

Quite frankly all this talk can make a property owner or prospective buyer understandably nervous!  We went out and got some facts we’d like to share with you. These certainly eased our minds … and we hope they will ease yours, too:

FACT #1 – THE AMOUNT OF WATER THE BRA HAS AGREED TO SELL THE CITY OF ABILENE IS 4,500 ACRE-FEET PER YEAR.

We’ve seen this amount and significantly

One thing that our 3 featured PK Tri-athletes have in common is just that!! Location… Bill Moss, Brittany Buchanan and Linda Fewell all live and train at Possum Kingdom Lake. In there words, "What a beautiful place to train daily."  On any given day if you are driving through Gaines Bend you might see these 3 on a bike doing one of there daily 15 mile bike rides,  or 3 mile plus runs. (This part of there training has been much smoother with the new and improved roads in Gaines Bend)  If you happen to go down to Gaines Bend new Marina you just might see them doing there daily 1 mile swim. Crazy you say? No this is just a normal day in the training process for these 3 as they train for the upcoming September 14, 2014 Triathlon here at PK. Both Bill Moss and

The Hummies are BACK!!

Spring is my favorite time of year.  The world re-invents itself with every little green bud poking up out of the ground or from a tree limb. One of my most favorite things about this time of year is the hummingbirds return.  Hummingbirds are wonderful little creatures ... I maintain three feeders scattered around the yard and I have noticed the little guys are very territorial and protective of their food source(s).  The dominate one(s) will chase away competitors during the day but between dusk and dark they seem to form a truce and I have counted up to four and at times more flocked around each of the feeder(s). On more than one occasion I’ve seen two hummers perched side-by-side, shoulder-to-shoulder on a single station

"If you're lucky enough to live at the lake, you are lucky enough."
"Choose a job that you love and you'll never work a day in your life."

These are two sayings that I have heard for years. Now they are words that I live by, and I realized that just recently.

I generally work every day, all day long.  Sometimes the hours can be quite long.  It's actually a pretty good time most of the time though, like when I'm meeting new people and showing houses, or working on a marketing plan for a property I've listed.  Just like any work though, there are times when I have to work on the mundane (but oh-so-necessary) tasks that comes with my profession, like file maintenance, working on mailing lists and so on.  Just the other day, when I was doing one of

If you live and work at PK, it goes something like this:   Wake up at 6 am and check outside temps first thing. Yep, that tapping noise I heard on the windows last night was definitely not a dream - It was the sleet from the storm - I've got work to do! Definitely NOT going for a run this morning!   Time to bundle up and head off into the white beauty that is now PK to bust the water in the horse troughs and get them fed.  Bet they are greatful for their blankets this morning!
Next its off to check on seller's homes to make sure all is good with them.  Note to self:  I will need to go back once the temps raise above freezing and the thaw out begins. Don't want any flooding from busted water pipes.  While out taking care of my chores, I…

Its getting to be that time of year! Deer shed their antlers after breeding season each year  (due to a decrease in testerone) and grow them back during Spring and Summer.  The deer at Possum Kingdom shed their antlers between now and March.

The interest in shed antler hunting has began to grow by leaps and bounds. Shed hunting is similar to treasure hunting or hunting arrowheads and is great exercise, and kids of all ages can take part because no hunting license or permits are required. Antler hunting can be an activity for the whole family and I can't think of a more beautiful place to do this than Possum Kingdom.

The basics are simple. Look for shed antlers in winter food sources, bedding areas, and along the trails between these two areas. Knowing
